Type of mutation: Buford Bronze Pied White Eyed Spaldings are hybrid birds of the India Blue and Green species that also combine the Bronze color mutation and the White Eyed and Pied pattern mutations.
Peacock Coloration: Males' normal Bronze coloration, which is a dark iridescent brown, is interrupted by random patches of white. The center of their ocelli are white, and they may have a patch of white on their throat. Because they are Spaldings, they are generally taller and leaner than their normal Bronze counterparts, with a tighter crest and a patch of yellow facial skin.
Peahen Coloration: The peahen's normal Bronze chocolate brown coloration is speckled with white tipped feathers down her back and tail and random patches of white. Like males, she is taller and leaner than a normal Bronze, with a tighter crest and yellow facial patch.
Do they breed true?: No. The bronze color and white eyed pattern breed true, but the pied pattern does not. Approximately 25% of chicks will look white but be dominant for bronze and white eyed, 50% will be bronze pied white eyed, and 25% will be bronze dark pied white eyeds. The chicks will vary in how strongly they exhibit their green characteristics, making some look like better spaldings than others.
