Jade Spalding

Less than a decade after discovery, Jade peafowl have not yet caught on and very few breeders raise them.
Type of mutation: Jade is a color mutation. Uniquely, the first Jades discovered had some degree of Spalding blood, and this color seemed to have arose out of the hybrids, not the India Blue.
Peacock Coloration: Males have a bluish-green neck and pale brown and white barred wings. The train is green, but with a decidedly brown tint.
Peahen Coloration:Jade Spalding hens somewhat resemble normal Spalding hens, but the green on their neck is muted and the brown feathers on the rest of their body are a different shade.
Origin: Brad Legg discovered the first Jade peafowl at an animal sale in 2000 and has since worked to develop the color.
Do they breed true?: The Jade color breeds true, but the amount of spalding characteristics the offspring exhibits may vary.
